Jack Caouette, Group Chairman

Jack Caouette has served as Group Chairman since the launch of the group in 2006. Jack oversees corporate governance for the combined group and liaises with shareholders and other key stakeholders over strategy and governance.

Jack began his career with Citibank in 1970 and eventually founded and led the Global Swap group. After serving as SVP and head of financial trading business for the Continental Grain Company, Jack returned to Citi to manage the transition of the Citibank bond insurance business to the private sector (subsequently named CapMAC) where he served as Founder, Chairman/CEO and President. This resulted in one of the first financial services management buyouts and the company was subsequently taken public on the NYSE. In 1998 CapMAC was sold to MBIA. At MBIA, Jack oversaw the integration of CapMAC and its joint venture with AMBAC and managed its international business from London before retiring in 2004.

Jack was named in March 2010 as the non-executive Chairman of the Asset Protection Agency (“APA”) in the United Kingdom. The APA is a wholly owned subsidiary of HM Treasury.

Jack is the author of "Managing Credit Risk: The Next Great Challenge" (1998 and revised in 2008) published by Wiley & Sons and has been a lecturer at UC Berkeley. He has served in a number of directorships in the financial services sector globally including financial services firms and a major derivatives clearinghouse. Jack holds an MBA from UC Berkeley and a BS from California State University.
